We are honored to announce a significant milestone in our mission to provide essential health services to the children of Fiji. On 23rd January 2026 representatives from the Project HEAVEN Trust met with officials at the Embassy of Japan in Suva for the official signing ceremony of a new Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP). The grant of $244,911 (FJD) will be used to procure a Mobile Audiovisual Examination Vehicle to boost the outreach services of the Project HEAVEN teams.
This partnership with the Government of Japan represents a major boost to our operational capacity. The GGP program is renowned for supporting NGOs that make a direct impact on the well-being of local communities, and this grant is a testament to the vital role Project HEAVEN plays in Fiji’s healthcare landscape.
The funds from this grant will be instrumental in:
Enhancing our screening capabilities in remote and maritime areas.
Procuring specialized medical equipment for more accurate ear and eye diagnoses.
Ensuring the sustainability of our school outreach programs, which reach thousands of students annually.
The Assistant Minister for Health & Medical Services, Hon. Penioni Ravunawa officiated at the grant signing ceremony. Mr. TAKADA Isami, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Fiji and our General Manager, Nilesh Reddy signed the grant contract.
This generous grant will fund a dedicated mobile clinic for ear and eye screening services.
During the signing ceremony, our team expressed deep gratitude for Japan’s continued commitment to human security and health in the Pacific. By investing in the early detection of vision and hearing impairments, this partnership ensures that preventable conditions do not stand in the way of a child's education or future potential.
"This is a targeted, impactful investment in our people's well-being. We are tackling preventable and treatable conditions that too often remain hidden," Hon Ravunawa
