Our work.

Project HEAVEN aims to improve eye and ear health, particularly in children and youth, by integrating regular eye and ear health monitoring and follow-up within primary health care clinics. We work with schools, health services and community groups to transform the lives of children around Fiji. Founded in 1995, we are the only service that conducts eye and ear screening in schools in Fiji, for early detection and treatment.

The school outreach program is the main focus of Project HEAVEN. The objective of our outreach program is to reduce preventable eye and ear impairments in children and improve their participation in education.

What is the program about

Training teachers, parents and community leaders

Many people have preventable eye and ear conditions because they don't have access to affordable health care and education. Our program shares the knowledge on eye and ear health with patients, to help reduce risks that lead to impairments.

Audiometry

Our Project HEAVEN clinic facility provides screening, detection, treatment and referral for vision and hearing concerns. We are located at Tamavua House, in the Twomey Hospital in Suva.

Public education

Through Project HEAVEN we are providing better pathways to get patients the care they need. Sometimes this means home visits, referral to specialists and follow up support.

A world of visionaries.

Through our programs we bring the power of enhanced vision and hearing to schools around Fiji. We teach children how to keep their eyes clean and ears free from obstruction. We help parents to prevent the causes of impairments. We support vulnerable community members to get access to vision and hearing aids.

Informing on ear health

We don't do this alone, our partnerships make all the difference

At Project HEAVEN, we believe that early detection, treatment and intervention are key to preventing and addressing preventable ear and eye health care issues. That's why we partner with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, to deliver comprehensive screening programs for ears and eyes.

Through these partnerships, we work closely with healthcare professionals to identify children with potential hearing and vision impairments, providing them with timely access to diagnostic tests and treatment.

By working together, we can reduce the risk of long-term complications and improve the overall well-being of children, empowering them to reach their full potential. Join us in our mission to protect the health and vision of future generations
